Piero Jet III flying above the clouds

A Predesign for a New Dimension of VLJ Performance

Scope of the Piero Pre-Development Project:
The Piero Pre-Development Project is a preliminary design study. PIERO JET III is the designation of the aircraft developed within this project.

PIERO JET III is the designation of this aircraft.

With an MTOM of 4200 kg well below 5.7 tons

Capability to operate out of short runways.

The research and the design here, aim at extremely fuelefficient and low emission aircraft. Striving for long-range and at the same time short-field performance.

Piero Jet III Key Benefits

flying up to 8 people in a spacious even standup size cabin normally found in midsize jets.

Any aircraft in this 3000 nm near transatlantic range today is at least a midsize business jet around 12-20 tons...

The PJ III as a VLJ is much smaller than anything flying a 3000 nm distance today.

In this sense, we describe possibly a new category of aircraft...

Investor

The Investor has a commercial interest in the project – but not only.

A key interest is, to try and refocus business aviation to a more fuel efficient and ecofriendly future. This is not to prevent aviation, but as a pilot he likes to promote the increased use of individual air transport by more affordability and better acceptance.

The Piero Jet III technology was designed for the industry. He is ready to entrust the KnowHow to a capable manufacturer at this stage.

The believe is, for new aircraft projects, it can pose a commercial risk to bypass ideas on fuel efficiency as they are now available to potential competition

To him it means “back to the future”: The aircraft in the past could travel enormous distances on little fuel.

Ironically the “Spirit of Saint Louis” that Charles Lindbergh used to cross the Atlantic first time, had the same amount of fuel on board and had the same range!

So why would it not be possible to accomplish the same 100 years later,
with the technology of pressurized cabins and flying in 50.000 feet?
